Marko Churnchetz / Joris Teepe / Billy Hart

Characterful jazz by acoustic trio from Brooklyn, New York, featuring legendary drummer Billy Hart, who previously collaborated with Miles Davis, Stan Getz and many others.

Recently double bassist Joris Teepe recorded the album The Brooklyn Sessions in New York with pianist Marko Churnchetz and drum legend Billy Hart. The album opens with Full House, a composition by Wes Montgomery with whom Billy Hart played in the band from 1966-68. Billy Hart and Joris Teepe have been playing together in Brooklyn since the 1990s. They lived near each other and played the same clubs. ‘We could always play sessions where we could try out new pieces, a very exciting time’, remembers Joris.

Lately Joris Teepe has been visiting The Netherlands more often, but since 1992 he has been living in New York. He has worked with many jazz greats including Benny Golson, Bobby Watson, Sonny Fortune, Chris Potter and Randy Brecker. He was part of the Rashied Ali Quintet for 9 years, touring all over the world. Classically trained pianist Marko Churnchetz was born in Slovenia and has been living in New York since 2015. Billy Hart started out playing for soul singers such as Otis Redding and Sam and Dave. He recorded with McCoy Tyner, Wayne Shorter and Joe Zawinul and can be heard on Miles Davis’s album On the Corner. He was part of Herbie Hancock’s sextet and toured with Stan Getz.
