Floris Kappeyne trio

SYNESTHESIA

In Synesthesia, classical music, free improv and electronics fuse with spectacular visuals, a four-piece choir, a soprano and the trio of pianist Floris Kappeyne.

Synesthesia is the perceptual phenomenon in which stimulation of one sensory pathway leads to automatic, involuntary experiences in a second sensory pathway. It is also the title of the new album by young pianist Floris Kappeyne and his trio. They will perform the album in collaboration with audiovisual composer Jaromir Mulders (SoundLAB), who provides the live visuals. The original compositions by Kappeyne bring classical music, free improvisation, electronics and vocals together with psychedelic images that are created on the spot, inspired by the music.

‘Kappeyne’s technique is dazzling, just as his ability to insert contemporary elements into the jazz tradition’ (Jazzenzo).

Floris Kappeyne piano, Tijs Klaassen bass, Wouter Kühne drums, Janneke Stoute vocal, Isabel Mirallas, Isla Van Hout, Laura Polence, Laura Dooge choir, Jaromir Mulders live visuals.
