Chico Pinheiro Quartet ft. Harold López Nussa

Brazilian master guitarist and latin jazz great.

With his accomplished and relaxed acoustic playing, Chico Pinheiro has been in demand as a guitarist since the age of fourteen, first in his homeland Brazil and later with some of the biggest international jazz players such as Herbie Hancock and Brad Mehdau. He has previously performed on our stage in 2008 with his own band including Luciana Alves, Edu Ribeiro and Marcelo Mariano. Now he is back with a new line-up featuring Cuban piano wonder Harold López-Nussa, bassist Mathias Allamane  and drummer Rogério Pitomba.

Chico Pinheiro’s debut album Meia Noite Meio Dia from 2002 was instantly included in the best-of-year-lists in the major newspapers of Brazil. Many accolades followed, for example in the Downbeat Critics Polls. His recent album City of Dreams was nominated for a Grammy. This year saw the release of the instrumental duo album Two Brothers with his colleague Romero Lubambo, featuring compositions by, among others, Tom Jobim, Stevie Wonder, and Billie Eilish.
