Guitarist Guillermo Celano and drummer Marcos Baggiani are irreplaceable contributors to the Amsterdam jazz and improvised music scene. However, their Argentinean roots are still a part of their sound, which still carries the melancholy of nuevo tango and Piazzolla. Ten years ago they started their Celano/Baggiani Group, which has collaborated with illustrious international jazz musicians.
Celano won the North Sea Jazz composition assignment in 2013, for which the group introduced new member Joachim Badenhorst (Han Bennink Trio) on bass clarinet. Now the group will perform with pianist Wolfert Brederode, known for his albums on ECM Records and his collaboration with Yuri Honing. Travelling through music is the theme of Carnet Imaginaire, the new album by Celano/Badenhorst/Baggiani featuring Wolfert Brederode.
