About Kit Downes
British pianist, organist and harmonium player Kit Downes (1986) is a BBC Jazz Award winning, Mercury Music Award nominated, solo artist for ECM Records. He has collaborated with drum-‘n-bass pioneer Squarepusher, singer-songwriter Sam Amidon and jazz group Empirical, among others. Downes has also composed for London Contemporary Orchestra and Ensemble Klang. He is a composing member of ENEMY, the monster trio with double bassist Petter Eldh and drummer James Maddren, with whom he has already released two albums.
REFLEX
BIMHUIS Productions invited Kit Downes to write new work for REFLEX, a concert series where musicians present their take on the current zeitgeist. In this new concert, Kit Downes presented his project ‘DR. SNAP’. For this, the trio ENEMY collaborated with five musicians and a visual artist, including saxophonist Ben van Gelder, guitarist Reinier Baas and drummer Sun-Mi Hong. REFLEX: DR. SNAP is out now everywhere via BIMHUIS Records.
