Violinist Aurore Voilqué and guitarist Tessa Spaaij share a passion for acoustic jazz full of fire, melody and swing. The  first time they played together was at a jam session in the heart of Paris. Since then, they have teamed up on several occasions, for example at the infamous campsite of the annual Django Reinhardt Festival in Samois-sur-Seine. Now they will share the stage for an energetic matinee concert.

Aurore Voilqué is a leading violinist in the swing jazz style of Django Reinhardt. After playing in classical orchestras, she spent several years performing in the Paris Metro. This experience had a strong influence on her musical style. She has worked with, among others Rhoda Scott, Angelo Debarre and Thomas Dutronc. Amsterdam-based guitarist Tessa Spaaij is known for her expressive playing. Her trio made name as the house band at earlier editions of Django Amsterdam.

Django Amsterdam is dedicated to the birthday of guitar legend Django Reinhardt (1910-1953). His music style became part of Roma and Sinti culture. Django is generally considered one of the greatest guitar players of all time. On Friday and Saturday the concerts on our stage will be complemented with sessions and performances at the café.
