In a short time, Ella Zirina has become indispensable as a guitarist in the Dutch jazz scene. Dutch newspaper NRC listed her as one of the rising stars of 2025. Now she will give no less than two performances on the same night. First she will appear as a duo with her polar opposite on guitar, Teis Semey. Then she will play with her trio, focusing on her original compositions.

While Ella Zirina has a passion for melody and timbre, Teis Semey made name with a different guitar sound: wild, erratic and uncut. His style has been described as ‘nordic punk-freejazz’. What connects the two players is a loving relationship with music and a drive for uncompromising improvisation.

Ella Zirina Trio

Since her debut album on BIMHUIS Records in 2023, Ella Zirina has released another three albums under her own name. She recorded these with a variety of line-ups, with esteemed players such as Tineke Postma, Ben van Gelder en Alistair Payne. In this way she gathered an varied oeuvre of original compositions. Her current trio features acclaimed New York-based bassist Felix Moseholm  and highly demanded Amsterdam drummer Jamie Peet. Together, they bring energy and nuance to Zirina’s music.
