This year again two of Herman’s favourite alto saxophonists take centre stage: Spanish saxophonist Irene Reig and Scottish saxophonist Rachael Cohen. Together they bring out the rich sound and expressive power of the alto saxophone, accompanied by a rhythm section with Miguel Rodriguez on piano, Veerle van der Wal on double bass and Alexia Harpa on drums. Herman’s love for international exchange and for jazz in all its forms aligns perfectly with what the Alto Festival stands for: a stage for musical craftsmanship and virtuosity beyond our borders.
