Sjoerd van Eijck, Jörg Brinkmann and Jarle Vespestad first came together in 2019 at a Carte Blanche concert at Paradox in Tilburg. Their musical connection was clear and led to further collaboration: the trio made the album Pegasus, a suite inspired by astronomy and the imagination of the cosmos. Van Eijck’s compositions form the backbone of the program, but it is the instrumentation that defines the sound: piano, cello and drums create a space that moves between jazz, chamber music and contemporary improvisation.

Drummer Jarle Vespestad is internationally known for his long-standing collaboration with ECM pianist Tord Gustavsen. Cellist Jörg Brinkmann combines classical cello technique with improvisation in a way that enriches both worlds. Together with van Eijck, they form a trio that brings composition, timbre and improvisation together in an intimate musical conversation.
