Craig Taborn, Chris Potter and The Bad Plus: big names who have each made their mark on contemporary jazz. They share a passion for the folk-inspired melodies and idiosyncratic grooves of Keith Jarrett’s American Quartet, active in the mid-seventies. Now, these four contemporaries are taking a fresh look at the oeuvre that moulded their musical paths.
Pianist Keith Jarrett shot to global stardom with his imaginative solo improvisations, immortalized on the highly successful album The Köln Concert. Around that time, he released a series of influential albums with his quartet featuring Dewey Redman, Charlie Haden and Paul Motian. Today, a new generation of jazz titans – piano adventurer Craig Taborn, tenor sax virtuoso Chris Potter, and The Bad Plus’s versatile rhythm section – breathe new life into their work.
In the meantime, the band has announced that 2026 will be their last year together – this tour will be one of the last chances to see The Bad Plus!
Chris Potter tenor sax, Craig Taborn piano, Reid Anderson bass, Dave King drums
From 19:45 to 20:00, prior to the concert in the Grote Zaal, the Watergang Kwartet will give a short concert in the Entreehal (Entrance Hall) in the context of Echoes of Nothing.
