The catchy melodies of Turkish television commercials from the 1980 form an endless source of inspiration for Televizyon. The simple musical fragments instantly provide a sense of recognition. They take you on a journey through time, zapping from genre to genre, from pop to electronic music, as if you’re holding a remote control.

The four members of Televizyon have all made their mark in international jazz and improvised music. Singer Sanem Kalfa has a Turkish background and shapes her memories with the help of electronics. Much like her, Danish guitarist Teis Semey has a strong connection to Amsterdam. Bassist Ingebright Håker Flaten previously performed on our stage with bands such as The Thing en (Exit) Knarr. And Korean drummer Sun Mi-Hong is a rising star known for her boundless creativity and infectious energy.
