Top players from the international gypsy jazz world will unite for the ninth edition of Django Amsterdam. Every year the festival is dedicated to the birthday of guitar icon Django Reinhardt, originator of gypsy jazz, or swing manouche. Performing on Sunday afternoon is Rosenberg Trio frontman Stochelo Rosenberg, in an exciting new formation featuring well-known performers from Dutch jazz and improvised music.

Stochelo Rosenberg achieved fame at a very young age with the Rosenberg Trio, and is considered one of the best guitarists in the world. He was influenced by Django Reinhardt, but also by Paco de Lucía, whom he describes as ‘the Django of flamenco’. A clear and precise improvisational style is what connects Stochelo to Peter Beets, who’s recognized all over the world as a piano giant. In this quartet they play with the reliable double bassist Frans van Geest, and with the most adventurous drummer in The Netherlands, Han Bennink.
