Shirley Smart is a versatile cellist who moves just as easily in classical music as in jazz and world music. She lived in Jerusalem for ten years where she studied the music of the Middle East, North Africa and Turkey. Her trio, with leading (Latin) jazz pianist John Crawford and Spanish flamenco percussion master Demi Garcia Sabat, creates a steaming mix of jazz, blues and music from different musical cultures.
