On his new album For The Love of George, Robin Nolan plays several iconic George Harrison’s Beatles guitars . In this album presentation concert, Nolan will pay tribute to ‘the quiet Beatle’ with gypsy jazz reworks of Harrison’s classic songs, including the title track For The Love of George, a brand-new composition co-written by Nolan and Harrison. This song was crafted from chords discovered on an envelope and passed on to Nolan after Harrison’s passing ‘Of course, it does sound like George, because there’s a few chord changes in there which are really unique to him’, says Nolan.
Englishman Robin Nolan travels the world with a guitar over his shoulder, with Amsterdam as his home base. He’s regarded as a jazz manouche authority everywhere he goes. He was a good friend of George Harrison, he regularly performed with Bill Wyman, and he received praise from Willie Nelson. On our stage he has previously performed with, among others, Benjamin Herman and Jan Akkerman. Here he was also featured regularly as part of the prominent jazz manouche festival Django Amsterdam.
