Peter Beets first met Lucy Yeghiazaryan in Philadelphia, where she was performing with well-known jazz musicians. The meeting stayed with him, and throughout the following year, he continued to play her music on repeat. Lucy Yeghiazaryan grew up in post-Soviet Armenia, where she was introduced at a young age to her father’s once-forbidden jazz records. Initially, she sang along to the melodies and meticulously imitated the sounds and styles of greats like Ella Fitzgerald and Sarah Vaughan. In 2002, she emigrated to America, learned the language, and immersed herself further in jazz. She has shared the stage with luminaries such as Harold Mabern, Houston Person, and Grant Stewart, and regularly collaborates with the Emmet Cohen Trio.

Now she performs with the Peter Beets Trio consisting of Peter Beets on piano, Steve Zwanink on double bass, Martijn Vink on drums, and special guest Gideon Tazelaar on tenor sax. Expect a concert in which songs come to life, featuring a singer who understands the art of conveying stories in the spirit of the greats from the golden age of jazz.
