New Dutch JazzDouble concert

Those who have followed our venue in the past years must have encountered Chaerin Im and Jort Terwijn at some point. Both have developed themselves in Amsterdam, performing on our stage in the initial phase of their career. Now they are back with their own bands full of international jazz talents.

For his band Önder, Jort Terwijn composes stories in music, for an exceptional combination of bass instruments, drums, and electronics. In this band, double bass meets two bass clarinets and bass guitar. Beats, drones and soundscapes add color to thrilling subjects such as resistance, birds, drowned cities, and the slow art of cooking rice. This fall will see the release of the new album Önder Vol. 3.

Korean-born pianist Chaerin Im is making a name for herself at lightning speed. For instance, Dutch newspaper NRC named her one of the young artists to watch this season. With her trio she pushes the boundaries of acoustic improvisation, weaving in electronic textures and daring shifts in energy. This fall will see the release of their new EP aïe aïe on Dox Records, a freer, lighter and more mischievous sequel to their debut album Midnight Resets. The trio has performed at festivals such as North Sea Jazz, and Chaerin Im has collaborated with the likes of Pablo Held and Ernst Reijseger.

Önder: Jort Terwijn double bass, Federico Calcagno bass clarinet, Hristo Goleminov bass clarinet, Alessandro Mazzieri bass guitar, Nick Thessalonikefs drums
Chaerin Im Trio: Chaerin Im piano, Paddy Fitzgerald double bass, Ludvig Søndergaard drums
