South Korean pianist Miran Noh has gathered top players of the new jazz generation in The Netherlands around her in NOHMI. They will present work from her new album Darkness & Brightness. The darkness in the title captures emotion, struggle, and tensions in life, while the light brings hope and connection. Together they create an interplay that allows you to look both inward and outward, to a world full of imbalance, but also full of beauty.

As a composer, Noh is rooted in both classical music and jazz. Together with her bandmates, she moves effortlessly between these worlds. The influences of her great heroes, the French impressionist composers Ravel and Debussy, resonate clearly on this album. Like a true impressionist, Noh plays with light and shadow. NOHMI is one of the winning bands, the competition of the Keep an Eye Foundation that supports young creatives.

Sanne Huijbregts vibraphone/vocals, Antonio Moreno trumpet, Claudio Jr de Rosa tenor sax, Miran Noh piano, Ton Felices double bass, Auke de Vries drums
