On the closing day of Django Amsterdam we present two singular guitar players. Mozes Rosenberg has developed into one of the great virtuosos of jazz manouche. The tradition was passed onto him by his older brother Stochelo, leader of the world famous Rosenberg Trio. Anton Goudsmit is a giant of Dutch jazz. Their interplay runs like a well-oiled machine. They always manage to forge surprising new paths with original work, standards, blues, and beautiful ballads. Basically all of the styles they enjoy merge into Anton’s electric and Mozes’s acoustic guitar.
Django Amsterdam is dedicated to the birthday of guitar legend Django Reinhardt, the originator of gypsy jazz or swing manouche. This style of acoustic swing jazz became part of the Roma and Sinti culture thanks to Django, who’s generally considered one of the greatest guitar players of all time. For four days the concerts on our stage will be complemented with sessions and performances at the café. The house band is the trio of guitarist Tessa Spaaij, known for her melodic and expressive style. Each evening she will set the tone with an introductory performance and lead the session after the concert.
