De Drinkbare Rivier (The Drinkable River) tells the story of river and man. Experience their exciting dialogue about the future of their relationship, and about nature, ignorance, conflict, harmony, beauty, hope and reconciliation. Immerse yourself in this turbulent journey, an orchestral tale merging classical music, jazz and hip-hop. Featuring soprano Claron McFadden and spoken word artist Manu van Kersbergen.
Inspired by the adventurous book Drinkable Rivers by Li An Phoa, orchestra leader Joan Reinders collaborated with lyricist Marieke Meischke to create songs and spoken word about the journey of river meeting man. From the source to the outflow into the ocean: all aspects are included, from the flowing water to the cities it passes through, and from flora and fauna to pollution. The enchanting visuals were created by prizewinning wildlife cinematographers Arthur de Bruin and Dick Harrewijn.
Please note that narration during this concert will be in Dutch.
