Norwegian jazz trio Maridalen is named after the scenic valley just north of central Oslo, and consequently draws inspiration from nature. The transparent, playful and warm sound has developed through the interaction of trumpet, saxophone and double bass. The trio explores how these three melodic voices can complement one another both harmonically and percussively.
Maridalen has built a solid reputation on the basis of the eponymous debut album from 2021and its follow-up Bortenfor (2022). Both albums were recorded in a wooden church in Maridalen. The three musicians spread their wings for the third album Gressholmen (2024), which was made on the island of the same name. They continue to confirm their reputation with their live performances, which also receive praise in the international press.
Anders Hefre saxophone/clarinet, Jonas Kilmork Vemøy trumpet, Andreas Rødland Haga double bass
