Lucy Woodward and the New Rotterdam Jazz Orchestra (NRJO) fuse soaring vocals, tight grooves, and vivid orchestration into a fearless, genre-blurring sound. At the center is Lucy, an emotionally rich, magnetic vocalist who moves effortlessly from fiery to sultry. Together they present Lucy Woodward & The Rocketeers, the new album on GroundUP Music. This label is led by Michael League, founder of star formation Snarky Puppy, who Lucy Woodward has previously collaborated with.

Born in London and raised in New York and The Netherlands, Lucy Woodward emerged out of a musical household. She recorded various solo albums, wrote pop hits and sang with Snarky Puppy, for example on the Grammy-winning album Family Dinner Vol. 1. She made her striking debut on our stage together with guitar virtuoso Charlie Hunter. Tonight’s concert includes original songs alongside standards by the likes of Nina Simone and Billy Strayhorn, in inventive reimaginations by NRJO-leader Louk Boudesteijn and Lucy’s longtime guitarist Jelle Roozenburg.
