Laura Polence Band

The energetic, expressive vocalist Laura Polence combines influences from modern jazz, Brazilian popular music and the narrative power of singer-songwriters in her music. The Latvian vocalist previously performed on our stage as part of our REFLEX series, with a distinctive improvisation project together with the ten-piece choir August 38th.

She now presents her album Ancient Plastic Butterfly, released in August, where jazz and alternative pop merge seamlessly. The compositions are often rooted in memories of her youth in Latvia and together form a personal and accessible whole, and Polence creates ample space for her band members to express their own voice.
