Late Show: Jeroen van Vliet Moon trio
Jeroen van Vliet piano / elektronica, Cord Heineking bass, Mark Schilders drums
Pianist Jeroen van Vliet’s Moon Trio is all about the power of simplicity. Acoustic piano, double bass and drums come to their fullest expression thanks to concise compositions and subtle use of electronic effects. At the core, bassist Cord Heineking and drummer Mark Schilders provide an unmistakable groove.
Jeroen van Vliet is regarded as ‘one of the most lyrical piano players in The Netherlands’ (de Volkskrant), ‘master of nuance’ (Trouw) and a composer who combines a strong sense of melody and harmony with adventure and experiment. He made name in the band of saxophonist Paul van Kemenade and he made a vital contribution to Eric Vloeimans’ Gatecrash and Kytecrash, playing Fender Rhodes. In 2014 he won the Buma Boy Edgar Prize.
‘Jeroen van Vliet, Cord Heineking and Mark Schilders are Moonmen accompanying Alice to her Wonderland. Instead of meeting a talking rabbit, they search and find their own course’ (JazzNu).
