Late Show: Eric Vloeimans/Jörg Brinkmann/Dirk-Peter Kölsch

Eric Vloeimans trumpet, Jörg Brinkmann cello, Dirk-Peter Kölsch drums

Eric Vloeimans is an improvising trumpeter and composer who believes the term ‘jazz’ is too limited to describe his music. His work is characterized by a melodical and lyrical strength, and a characteristic sound, which has been called velvety and whispery in the more subdued pieces. His motto is: ‘I make music for millions, but I haven’t reached all of them yet.’ Still he never gives in to easy trends and always stays true to himself.

Together with German cellist Jörg Brinkmann, Vloeimans has played at the BIMHUIS several times, in the trio Oliver’s Cinema. Now they will form a new threesome with another German musician, drummer and percussionist Dirk-Peter Kölsch, who previously played here in the bands of Martin Fondse and Michiel Braam. Together they form a compact line-up with a grandiose sound.
