When it comes to jazz guitar, Lage Lund is among the absolute top players of his generation.  With a rapidly expanding repertoire of original compositions and a masterful approach to jazz standards, he combines harmonic sophistication with a fluid voice as a soloist. Major musicians from contemporary jazz and improvisation are more than happy to work with him, which is evident from his current band featuring pianist Danny Grissett, bassist Orlando le Fleming and drummer Jeff Ballard.

Lage Lund is seen as a true heir to the legacy of guitar greats such as Jim Hall, Pat Metheny and Kurt Rosenwinkel. These last two have been outspoken supporters of the Norwegian-born guitarist, who has been living in New York since 2002. In 2005 he won the Thelonious Monk International Jazz Competition and in 2020 he reached the top of the Downbeat Critics Poll in the Rising Star Guitar category. Highlights from recent years are his collaborations with Melissa Aldana, Mark Turner and Tyshawn Sorey.
