On the opening night of Django Amsterdam, Stochelo Rosenberg introduces La Familia, in which the world famous solo guitarist of the Rosenberg Trio gathers talented younger family members around him. More top players from the international gypsy jazz world will unite for this tenth edition of Django Amsterdam. Every year the weekend-long festival is dedicated to guitar icon Django Reinhardt (1910-1953), originator of gypsy jazz, jazz manouche or swing manouche.
As a pre-show on this opening night, Adrian Holovaty will perform a melodic set at our restaurant with his trio. The guitarist from Chicago takes inspiration from Chet Atkins, The Beatles and, of course, Django Reinhardt, among many others.
Opening act on stage is the virtuosic trio of guitarist John Rijsdijk. His original compositions are characterized by catchy melodies, solid arrangements, plenty of room for soling, and lots of influences such as jazz, classical music, rock, latin, and more.
La Familia is an extended version of the world’s best jazz manouche trio, the Rosenberg Trio. Remaining at the helm is the world famous guitar hero Stochelo Rosenberg. Solo guitarist Mozes Rosenberg and rhythm guitarist/singer Johnny Rosenberg are the young recruits in this formation. Expect dazzling guitar playing, swinging vocals and a selection of jazz manouche classics alongside standards from the great American songbook.
