Saxophonist and composer Kika Sprangers presents her latest work: The Way Wild Rivers Flow. The project is the result of the composition commission awarded to her by North Sea Jazz Festival 2025 and one of the last oppurtunities to hear it live. For this occasion, Sprangers assembled a new band of striking musical personalities: Alistair Payne (trumpet), Reinier Baas (guitar), Ton Felices (double bass) and Jonas Burgwinkel (drums). Each of them brings their own sensibility to the ensemble, allowing friction and freedom to flow together effortlessly.
Sprangers’ music is melodic, captivating and layered, as she demonstrated last year with her award-winning Large Ensemble in our hall. That album, (In)Finity, received an Edison Award in the National category in October. Now it’s time for this new formation: music that sparks the imagination and offers ample room for improvisation and personal expression.
Kika Sprangers saxophone, Alistair Payne trumpet, Reinier Baas guitar, Ton Felices double bass, Jonas Burgwinkel drums.
