Jure Pukl Analog AI

Analog AI, the new album by Jure Pukl, is a response to artificial intelligence. Broken rhythms, lyrical bass lines, robust saxophone sounds and unpredictable movements constitute the language of this new band of old friends. They insist that music is still at its most powerful, beautiful, wild, lyrical and sensual when performed in the moment, before a live audience. The four band members from New York and Berlin are known for their excellent improvisations.

As a saxophonist, Jure Pukl was awarded the highest national award for contribution to the arts in his native Slovenia. He travelled all over the world and made his mark in New York, where he currently lives. He made an impression on our stage with his band Doubtless, in which he forms a saxophone tandem with Melissa Aldana. Now he will perform with the same musicians as on Analog AI: pianist John Escreet, bassist Joe Sanders and drummer Christian Lillinger.

‘Pukl combines the skill, soul, and appetite for adventure that has fuelled jazz evolution from the beginning, and he’s a rising star of a creative new generation that is energetically driving the music on into its second century’ (The Guardian).

Jure Pukl tenor sax/soprano sax, John Escreet piano, Joe Sanders bass, Christian Lillinger drums
