Jorge Rossy is one of the most influential drummers of his generation; he can be heard on more than two hundred recordings with musicians such as Brad Mehldau, Mark Turner, Joshua Redman and Kurt Rosenwinkel, and has toured with icons including Charlie Haden, Wayne Shorter, Lee Konitz and Joe Lovano. Alongside that, he developed a voice of his own on vibraphone and marimba, heard on his ECM debut Puerta (2021) and on the duo albums The Wait with Kevin Hays and Red on Maroon with Michael Kanan.

For this new quartet Rossy stays with the mallets, in constantly shifting roles: at times sharing the front line with the trumpet, at others providing the harmonic and rhythmic foundation. Trumpeter Milena Casado, called a revelation by The New York Times, released her debut Reflection of Another Self last year. Bassist Robert Landfermann has won awards including the Deutscher Jazzpreis (2022), and Swedish drummer Cornelia Nilsson made her debut with Where Do You Go? Rossy has played with all three individually, but this is their first performance as a group, with his compositions and arrangements as the starting point.

‘Rossy plays his vibraphone with a fine sense of space and silence, moving as a soloist with restraint yet with a swing that is rare in today’s jazz’ (Mannheimer Morgen).
