Keyboardist Joe Armon-Jones and producer Maxwell Owin have been working together for ten years, and they are marking the occasion with a tour built around the record where it all began: Idiom. The long sold-out album is also being reissued on vinyl. The two first started making music together as housemates in South London, where they developed a shared language between jazz, soul, dubstep and grime, in which live playing and electronic production sit naturally side by side.
Armon-Jones has since become one of the leading keyboardists and composers of contemporary British jazz, as a member of Ezra Collective and with three solo albums. Turn To Clear View, co-produced by Owin, was named one of TIME Magazine’s top ten albums of 2019; the two-part All The Quiet followed in 2025. Owin developed as a producer and DJ with a love of heavy bass and club rhythms. Together and separately, they have worked with artists including Tony Allen, Hugh Masekela, Nubya Garcia, Moses Boyd and Greentea Peng. On their second joint album, Archetype (2023), they dug deeper into London’s underground music history, from jazz and soul to dubstep and drill. Ten years after Idiom, they return to where it all started.
