Together with the members of her trio, pianist Joanna Duda fuses acoustic with electronic elements—effects, samplers, sequencers—into an organic whole full of contrasts and dynamism. Their album Fumitsuke combines influences from minimalism to classical and modern and the club sounds that shaped her formative years. Double bassist at this concert is Jort Terwijn, who has performed on our stage various times, for example with his own band Önder.
Joanna Duda is active in several guises. As a solo artist, she created the album Keen, on which she used piano, synthesizers, harpsichord and programming. Under the moniker Nightwarrior she recorded a track for the British label Byrd Out, who will also release her latest album. She has exhibited as a multidisciplinary artist. And she has made film music for Netflix. Her trio has performed at prestigious jazz venues all over the world.
Better Live is a collaborative project of eleven European partners from the world of jazz and improvised music. Their goal is reducing the carbon footprint of live music events resulting from the mobility of artists and audiences. Another goal is supporting the circulation of international artists and increasing musical diversity across Europe.
