JELISA has built a reputation as one of the most distinctive voices in Dutch soul over the past few years. Her music moves between classic soul and funk, indie and R&B, with occasional edges of rock, always personal, always direct. With radio plays on BBC Radio, NPO Soul & Jazz and Sublime, and performances at Paradiso, Melkweg and TivoliVredenburg, she has established a solid following.
After her EPs Season of Vulnerability and Do you feel the same?, JELISA released Melancholia, her most ambitious work to date. For this EP she travelled to Tokyo, recording at Freedom Studio Tokyo alongside Japanese artists. The result is a record that pushes her sound further: soul and jazz, indie and R&B, all in one breath.
