Interlinie is a series of events aimed at crosspollinating Dutch and Belgian improvisation, experimental music and jazz. For Interlinie #2 the band Old Adam on Turtle Island will perform  at our venue together with g a b b r o from Brussels. Interlinie is organized by Space Is the Place, also known for the Intergalactic Nights at the BIMHUIS.

Old Adam on Turtle Island is led by tenor saxophonist John Dikeman, who championed free jazz out of Amsterdam for years and is currently based in Ostend. For this band he composed a song cycle about colonization and the double-edged sword of religion. Expect deep emotion and interaction by top players from Amsterdam’s improv scene: pianist Marta Warelis, bassist Aaron Lumley and drummer Sun-Mi Hong. Their debut album appeared on the New York-based label Relative Pitch Records.

g a b b r o is a collective with a varying line-up led by Hanne De Backer, aimed at investigating the impact of improvised music on its surroundings and vice versa. For example, she has organized concerts and recordings at sewer canals, laundromats and even a prison. In 2024 she travelled from Brussels to the mysterious village of Gabbro in Italy. This led to the current line-up with guitarist Raphael Vanoli and drummer Casper Van De Velde. Field recordings and performances found their way on the album Groundspeed.
