Fay Claassen Band

Over the past years, versatile jazz vocalist Fay Claassen has collaborated with top orchestras such as the Metropole Orkest, WDR Big Band and Brussels Jazz Orchestra. Now, the four-time Edison Jazz Award winner returns with her Fay Claassen Band and the long-awaited new album Soul Print, a collection of original compositions that tell her personal story.

Soul Print takes listeners on an emotional journey where jazz sophistication, virtuosity, soul and fusion merge. Up-tempo pieces alternate with more intimate moments, sometimes with the full band, sometimes in a stripped-down setting without drums. Alongside poetic and philosophical reflections, there is always space for lightheartedness and a touch of playful wit.

Most of the songs were co-written by Claassen and WDR Big Band saxophonist Paul Heller, together with band members Karel Boehlee, Peter Tiehuis and Theo de Jong. Additional lyrics were contributed by Simone Pormes, Robin Meloy Goldsby and David Linx.
