Young listeners can become acquainted with the music and culture of Django Reinhardt on Django Amsterdam’s special afternoon for the whole family. Come and listen to the excellent playing of violinist Christiaan van Hemert and guitarist Reinier Voet. Alongside the music of their band, they will present anecdotes about the typical gypsy instruments and the history of the travelers in Europe.

Django Amsterdam is dedicated to the birthday of guitarist Django Reinhardt, the originator of gypsy jazz, jazz manouche or swing manouche. This style of acoustic swing jazz became part of the Roma and Sinti culture thanks to Django, who’s generally considered one of the greatest guitar players of all time. This weekend we will celebrate his legacy with concerts, jam sessions and workshops.
