Evan Parker is one of the great innovators of the British avant-garde. Over decades, the saxophonist developed an astonishing improvisational style built on circular breathing, multiphonics and overtones. Sylvie Courvoisier is known for her energetic piano playing, bridging her classical training and free improvisation. She has worked with, among others, Mark Feldman, Ikue Mori and Tim Berne.
Parker and Courvoisier go back a long way: from their first duo recording Either Or And (Relative Pitch) to the recent collaboration Marconi’s Drift (False Walls), on which eleven musicians on both sides of the Atlantic improvised together in real time. Tonight they return to the duo format, for improvisation at the highest level.
