The jazz world is buzzing, celebrating the 100th birth year of the Charlie Parker! Dutch drum hero Eric Ineke pays homage to the man behind the bop and swing he grew up with. “Absolutely a genius,” he says about the great alto saxophonist who they called Bird. If a classical musician can’t avoid Bach and Beethoven, then a jazz musician can’t avoid Charlie Parker, says Ineke.
Special guest Tineke Postma, proves that Bird’s songs are as energetic, melodic and timeless as ever. An international star herself, Tineke has performed with the likes of Herbie Hancock and Wayne Shorter. Together with the Eric Ineke JazzXpress she presents a new album at the BIMHUIS, full of music by Charlie Parker: What Kinda Bird is This?
