Early Show: Reijseger Fraanje Sylla
Mola Sylla vocals/m’bira/xalam, Ernst Reijseger cello, Harmen Fraanje piano
A performance by Reijseger, Fraanje and Sylla is an emotional experience, full of fire and honest beauty. These master musicians connect various musical worlds in their evocative melodies and improvisations. Ernst Reijseger is famous for his singular approach to the cello. For years he has been playing with the Senegalese born singer and percussionist Mola Sylla, who sings in his native language Wolof. With pianist and composer Harmen Fraanje they have created richly varied film music for Werner Herzog.
Presentation of the new album We Were There, released on the audiophile label Just Listen Records.
Director Werner Herzog on We Were There: ‘What has been strange becomes familiar. And what has been familiar acquires the glow of mystery. A beautiful album.’
‘The three musicians are storytellers who communicate in all sincerity with sounds that they gravitate towards together. This is unconditional dedication to the moment’ (de Volkskrant).
