Early Show: Fleurine & The Van Munster Brothers

Fleurine guitar / vocals, Syberen van Munster electric guitar, René van Munster cello, Gideon Tazelaar tenorsax

Jazz vocalist and singer / songwriter Fleurine met guitarist Syberen van Munster in New York. Immediately there was a musical click, which was reinforced when his brother cellist Rene van Munster played along at one of their duo concerts. Thus a new Dutch trio was born in the United States.
Special guest is an even younger talent: tenor saxophonist Gideo Tazelaar. It promises to be a warm winter evening, with the romance of the cello, Fleurine’s warm alto and acoustic guitar and the unparalleled jazz solos of Syberen and Gideon. The repertoire ranges from originals to jazz standards and songs from the Beatles to Paul Simon.

Over the past 25 years, Fleurine has worked with, among others, Roy Hargrove, Lee Konitz and Brad Mehldau. She made 5 successful albums with, among others, Christian McBride, Chris Potter, Peter Bernstein, Chico Pinheiro and Jeff Ballard. In the Netherlands she has worked with a.o. the Metropole Orchestra, Jesse van Ruller, Rita Reys and Peter Beets. In the past year JazzTimes honored her with an Overdue Ovation and she played at major festivals around the world, from Montreux to Rio to North Sea Jazz, along with her Brazilian band.

“Depth, feeling and technique are all abundant at Fleurine” (Trouw).
