Early Show: DOEK Festival Live! Trio Rave/Warelis/Renfrow
Ada Rave tenor sax, Marta Warelis piano, Tristan Renfrow drums
*Unfortunately drummer Tristan Renfrow is ill. Instead of the trio, Loot will perform.*
Like every year Doek presents a new festival, emphasizing everyone’s need to improvise, especially at this moment in time. At the BIMHUIS, the festival hosts two concerts by two groups that dare to strip down to the core, experiment with sound and open up for interaction.
The early concert will be performed by three acclaimed musicians from the Amsterdam improvised music scene: saxophonist Ada Rave, pianist Marta Warelis and drummer Tristan Renfrow. They will take you on a fearless journey, melodically rich and texturally dense, sometimes fiercely energetic and sometimes gradually evolving, like waves along the shore.
Since 2001, Amsterdam-based collective Doek has attracted international musicians and artists dedicated to improvisation. This year the finale concert of the Doek Festival will take place at the BIMHUIS, preceded by four days at De Brakke Grond which can host extra people thanks to the double-decker peepshow construction by theater group De Warme Winkel.
