Top players from the international gypsy jazz world will unite for the fourth edition of Django Amsterdam (26-28 January at BIMHUIS and Kapitein Zeppos). Highlight on Friday is the concert by the Rosenberg Trio led by guitarist Stochelo Roseberg, who’s widely recognized as a true heir to Django Reinhardt’s throne. Violinist Christiaan van Hemert will open the evening with his project inspired by the Rome recordings of Django and violinist Stéphane Grappelli. The concerts will be followed by a live session featuring legendary Australian guitarist Ian Date, this year’s artist in residence at Django Amsterdam.

DJANGO AMSTERDAM

JAN 26, 27 & 28 2018
Django Amsterdam, with concerts, jam sessions, workshops and a kids’ afternoon, is dedicated to the birthday of guitarist Django Reinhardt, the originator of gypsy jazz or swing manouche. This style of acoustic swing jazz became part of the Roma and Sinti culture thanks to Django, who’s generally considered one of the greatest guitar players of all time.
