Chico Pinheiro is one of the most influential voices in contemporary Brazilian jazz. His warm tone, fluid phrasing and distinctive blend of Brazilian music, classical influences and jazz give him a voice entirely his own. He has collaborated with Brad Mehldau, Dianne Reeves and Ron Carter, and received two Grammy nominations for his work.
His debut album Meia Noite Meio Dia (2002) immediately landed him on the year-end lists of Brazil’s leading newspapers. His album City of Dreams received a Grammy nomination. More recently came Two Brothers, an instrumental duo album with Romero Lubambo, featuring music by Tom Jobim, Stevie Wonder and Billie Eilish, among others.
‘There are many incredible guitarists out there. On the top of that list, I’d include Chico Pinheiro.’ (Pat Metheny)
