German cellist Friedemann “Fried” Dähn is a representative of the old-school avant-garde movement. A true pioneer and one of the first to expand his cello’s range with live electronics and a loop station. With his trio, he plays almost exclusively his own music and explores the boundaries between contemporary jazz, free improvisation, and post-serial music. Groove and swing are never far away, albeit sometimes from unexpected angles.
