Last spring, the Cello Collectief made its debut at the kickoff of the Cello Biennale. Now the ensemble is returning to Amsterdam with brand-new music.
At the BIMHUIS, the twenty-four amateur cellists will give a free concert featuring a selection from their upcoming winter concerts. The program includes arrangements of works such as Sergei Prokofiev’s *Romeo and Juliet*, Maurice Ravel’s *Ma mère l’Oye*, and Gustav Mahler’s Fourth Symphony.
With as many as twenty-four independent cello parts at times, the Cello Collectief demonstrates just how warm, rich, and versatile a cello ensemble can sound. Though they do recommend listening to their heroes from Berlin for the very best of the best.
