The summer is incomplete without a new edition of Salsa Panorama. This time the thrilling ensemble CaboCubaJazz will shine its light on the songs of Bana, the king of morna and coladera. These dance and music styles are inextricably linked to Cabo Verde. Bana was regarded as the male counterpart of that other Cape Verdean legend, Cesária Évora. Vocal talent Jèryh Luz will give her own take on the songs, as will the energetic Cuban singer Daniel Monteja. A treat for those who like song and dance!

Viva Bana! is the name of the concert and the album that will be released simultaneously. CaboCubaJazz has regularly graced our stage with rousing Latin jazz. The international ensemble blends the melancholy of the Cape Verdean Islands with a generous portion of sweeping Cuban rumba, salsa and adventurous jazz. After the concert you can enjoy Salsa Panorama, the Cuban salsa party at our café with a fantastic view.

‘A grooving blend of exciting question-and-answer vocals, sensual melodies and pleasant vocal harmonies, freshened up with strong arrangements and improvisation.’ (de Volkskrant on CaboCubaJazz).

‘Seductive, inspirational, passionate!’ (Latin Beat Magazine).

After the concert the music will continue with a Cuban salsa party at our café with an incredible view, where everybody is invited to dance. Salsa Panorama, organized by Salsa District, has become a tradition at the BIMHUIS.

Carlos Hechevarría trumpet, Pablo Martínez trombone, Carlos Matos piano, Mauro Méndez bass, Nils Fischer percussion, Leonid Muñoz drums, Jèryh Luz vocals, Daniel Montejo vocals
