On this special evening we welcome three winners of the Austrian Jazz Award 2024, each winner of their own category: Newcomer of the year, Album of the year and Live act of the year.

yvonne moriel :: sweetlife is newcomer of the year. Classically and jazz-trained saxophonist Yvonne Moriel plays in successful bands such as Shake Stew, the Swiss Jazz Orchestra and Christian Muthspiel’s Orjazztra. In her project sweetlife she combines jazz with dub, hip-hop and electronic music. Her debut album Sweetlife III was released in early November 2025.

Yvonne Moriel sax, Lorenz Widauer trumpet, Stephanie Weninger keys/moog, Raphael Vorraber drums

Album of the year is Timeless Warrior by the band E C H O BOOMER. Free improvisation, noise and minimalism are combined with open fragments and arranged numbers, with vocals, strings and horns. A melting pot of different types of musicians and their own musical language.

Astrid Wiesinger reeds, Alois Eberl trombone, Beate Wiesinger basses/vocals/composition, Clemens Sainitzer cello, Florian Sighartner violin, Philipp Nykrin e-piano/synths, Michał Wierzgoń drums

Live act of the year is Synesthetic4, the quartet founded by clarinetist Vincent Pongrácz and guitarist Peter Rom. They present a surprising sound that mixes elements of contemporary music, jazz, funk and electronic music. The band is completed by bassist Manu Mayr and drummer Andreas Lettner.

Vincent Pongracz clarinet/vocals, Peter Rom guitar, Manuel Mayr bass, Andreas Lettner drums
