Rising stars from Catalan and Dutch jazz will prove their worth at Catalan Focus at the BIMHUIS. The double concert opens with Alto for Two, the project of alto saxophonists and band leaders Kika Sprangers (Nijmegen, 1994) and Irene Reig (Barcelona, 1993). They will perform 100% original music, created out of the jazz tradition, and still 100% contemporary.
Saxophonist Lluc Casares attended The Juilliard School in New York, where he studied with the likes of Wynton Marsalis and Kenny Washington. He recently returned to his hometown of Barcelona, where he runs his own label Changes. At the BIMHUIS he will perform with his new band and a very special guest, Dutch guitar pride Jesse van Ruller.
Catalan Focus is a collaboration between BIMHUIS, Jazz I Am and Institut Ramon Llull.
