Afro Anatolian Tales – Tarab Dance
Due to the situation in Iran, Niusha Barimani is replaced by oud player and vocalist Avin Ahmadi.
Afro Anatolian Tales, led by Dutch-Turkish percussionist Sjahin During, brings together new grooves, soulful dialogues and electronic textures. Sounds from Anatolia, Iran and India merge with contemporary compositions, improvisation and digital sound design.
Afro Anatolian Tales constantly moves between tradition and innovation. Authentic instruments such as percussion, kamanche, tanbur, cello and trumpet fuse through improvisation and electronics. For this concert, the ensemble is expanded with oud, vocals and percussion, deepening the cinematic, contemporary character of this ensemble.

From 19:45 to 20:15, Dutch-Iranian storyteller Sahand Sahebdivani introduces the concert with personal stories and a conversation with the musicians about their collaboration and about developments in Iran that audibly resonate in the music. Free access with a concert ticket.
