Son Bent Braam
New latin versions of a Dutch jazz classic.
25 years after the release of Het XYZ der Bik Bent Braam, pianist Michiel Braam presents El XYZ de Son Bent Braam. The original album consisted of 26 pieces, one for each letter of the alphabet, and was at that time considered Braam’s masterpiece. Braam has now adapted the pieces to special contemporary versions that are infused with sultry Cuban grooves.
The XYZ will be performed by an intergenerational mix of top musicians, and will include various styles such as mambo, bolero, cha-cha, montuno, merengue, calypso, son, rumba, bembé, boogaloo, mozambique, samba, afro, danzón, and salsa. The album El XYZ de Son Bent Braam earned rave reviews: ‘The orchestra steams through the set relentlessly. Exciting from beginning to end’ (Jazzism).
