Petter Eldh presents KOMA SAXO ft. Sofia Jernberg
Trip through the Berlin underground with young jazz mavericks.
Due to personal circumstances saxophonist Otis Sandsjö will not perform with Koma Saxo. He is being replaced by vocalist Sofia Jernberg. She is also featured on their newest album ‘Koma West”, which will be released this Friday March 18 on We Jazz Records.
Koma Saxo from Berlin sounds unorthodox and at the same time contemporary. The German-Scandinavian quintet plays clear and transparent, unlike what you would expect from a band with three saxophonists in their ranks. Their debut album sounds as if it was remixed by a hip-hop DJ, with its clever break beats created by drummer Christan Lillinger.
The driving force behind Koma Saxo is Swedish double bassist and producer Petter Eldh, who previously played at the BIMHUIS with Lucia Cadotsch, Kaja Daksler en Gard Nilssen Acoustic Unity. He also collaborated with, among others, Django Bates, Benoît Delbecq and Jameszoo.
Sofia Jernberg vocals, Mikko Innanen alto sax/baritone sax, Jonas Kullhammar tenor sax/flute, Petter Eldh bass, Christian Lillinger drums
